A scare

I have been dying to get on here because I have so many things to say. Sometimes this blog has become a place to vent, those vents rarely get published, but it helps as a release.
But lately, I had many that I wanted to publish but haven't had the time with my sick kiddo's. Thank the Lord they are feeling better, so I will start with them!

I wanted to post about my sick kids and how sad and disappointed I am with their Dr. I hardly ever see her anymore, and I only care and trust one of her NP and after this last visit, I've lost that trust. Seth and Aaron both had strep throat, with a cold and congestion. She gave them both antibiotic and cough medicine. Well, Mr. Seth always reacts to any medicine with hyperactivity, but those that have a warning for it, the reaction is worse.
However, with this stuff it was unbelievable. I'm not even trying to lie and say I have a perfect child. Most of you have seen his activity level and can all confirm he is an active 3yr old. He also has fits, but mostly it's a loud cry of protest and a dirty look that he quickly corrects when given a 'choice' to be a big boy and find his manners himself, or I can help him with a spanking. Either way, his manners are to be found!
But by day 3 it was impossible for him to set still for ANY length of time. He was running everywhere, his pupils were dilated, his heart rate was up, he was sweating to the point I was worried about a heart attack. He was up going strong by 5, and had been up most the night because as he said 'my brain won't shut off mommy and let me sleep and im sooo tired' To get him to sleep, we practically had to lay on him and even then he twitched all night. We had to go back to pullups because of accidents all over the place. And he got sooo mad over the littlest of things.

I called his Dr. and was told they were too busy with actual sick people right now to have a consultation visit!!! (i'm convinced this is simply the opinion and doing of the receptionist who is NOT a friendly person) I started doing research on my own, and was surprised when everything I found about his meds said it is NOT to be given to asthma patients without having a test to figure out special dosing. It causes 'unusual, abnormal behavior. Extreme aggression and irritably, hyperactivity, incontinence, seizures, blackouts and hallucinations'
With the exception of blackouts we experienced them ALL. We had to strip him down, as well as the bed and 'pretend' to kill all the spiders that were after him. I had said his tremors looked like night seizures before finding this info, now i'm not sure they weren't. At one point we had such a meltdown that I sat in the chair with one arm hooked under one leg, the other behind his head and held my wrists towards the front of him as he proceeded to growl, spit, hit, bite, pull hair and scream. I just rocked him, sang quietly and told him how much we loved him. When he fought it out, he broke into sobs saying how sorry he was, he didn't mean to it was just an accident.
Now that is not my baby, and not at all how he acts. It was honestly like he was possessed. I was thankful for my restraint training and having my passed experience of working with behavioral disorders so that I wasn't totally freaked out by it and knew how to hold him so that neither of us got hurt. It completely broke my heart to see him that way. I called my parents after this, and had my dad pray that these reactions would ease. I asked him to have our church pray for him as well at church the next day. *my dad is our pastor for those of you who might not have known that little tidbit of information*
This could be a whole other post, but I am a FIRM believer in the healing power of prayer. I have seen it happen to many times for others and in my own life. Saturday night was our first tremor free night and the first of returns of peaceful sleep. A coincidence...I think not. He also woke up Sunday morning and his eyes were not bugged out of his had, and pupils were only slightly dilated. A significant difference. Thank you Lord!
We are now off the meds (we did not finish after I read all that) and had a pretty hard come down the first few days. But we are steadily getting back to our old self and so thankful for it. Needless to say, we will be finding a new pediatrician.

This is a picture I took of what he looked like on this stuff, isn't that scary!

quick little WOOHOO!!!!!!

So I checked the dashboard just to see how you guys were doing real quick before Aaron starts screaming again-he is really soooo sick.

But anyway, I WON A DRAWING!!!!! My friend that I posted about, who was having a giveaway for movies, yep I got it.

It was funny because she drew names through a nifty little sight that randomly picks a comment I guess. Anyway, it picked comment such and such by Kristy. So my friend wanted to know my address. When I finally looked at her post, I noticed it was the wrong Kristi/Kristy.

So, I sadly informed her of that so they could to the right winner. She posted for the correct winner to contact her and if not by a certain date a new winner would be drawn.

This time it was me, and for real me. I'm soooo excited about watching these movies. I have REALLY been wanting to watch Fireproof. I haven't heard about Flywheel, but i'm exciting and I loved Facing the Giants. The acting on that movie wasn't the best, but sooo worth overlooking to get the message. I think they will be great for our family and i'm excited to share with my church and friends. So If you are interested in watching, I will soon have them and gladly let you borrow! :)

Will we ever be well?

Well, my boys are sick again :( I am so tired of the yucky nasty weather, and if the sun doesn't come out soon I may scream!!!!
We got both of them well, only to go one week and get it all over again. It started with a stomach bug for Seth and i'm afraid has turned back into bronchitis. He has such a hard time after being diagnosed with asthma. But, he has come a long way from this time last year and i'm still holding on for a complete healing.

My little man Aaron sounds awful and hope he does not follow in big brothers footsteps. His poor nose with such a nasty sounding cough and his all came out of nowhere. I'm worried and praying it is not RSV.

I will be trying to get them into the dr tomorrow but for now I started them back on the same medicine we were given for the last go around minus the antibiotics.

I hope that once we are back to being healthy to have a little time to catch up on this. I have some pictures to post and cute stories jotted down to share and even some new crafty stuff i'm working on. Till then, hope your families are staying healthy :)

Our First Laugh!!!!!

Wooohoo, Aaron had his first laugh today. Apparently I have a funny looking face, because when I bent down to talk to him in his bouncer, he laughed.

I love baby giggles and can't wait till he truly figures out how he made that noise to do it all the time. Somehow I have a feeling big brother is gonna be hilarious :)

I tried to record him doing it but all I got were baby poots, but keep checking it's going to be on here soon!!!

Let's play catch up

I haven't posted a cute story about the boys lately so here we go.

Seth, I love it when he gets words confused to make new ones.

I am always telling John~who likes to pick at Seth~ 'John now don't get him stirred up'. Well the other day daddy was picking at him and Seth yells 'Daddy, don't get me mixed up' hahahahahahaa

He LOVES halloween, and is so ready for it to be here again. His newest thing is he wants to wear a monkey outsuit (monkey outfit or monkey suit = monkey outsuit) Then last night putting him to bed he told me he want to wear a monkey outsuit and drive a trash truck. Um ok, so I play along. Why a trash truck I ask. So I can drive down the road and say Ha Ha a monkey stole your trash. lol :P Oh the humor of a 3yr old.

Last but certainly not least,
We had a hard time listening yesterday and got in trouble. At night now when we are calming down for bed, he usually apologizes for how he's acted during the day. Sometimes for things I didn't know he did...I jokingly call it our confessional time. So this time he says...'mommy, i'm sorry im didn't listen. But when i'm dont listen to you it's because my ears are on commercial' bwahahahahahaah. I love it!!!!

Now Mr. Aaron:

He is growing like a weed. He has started with the cutest facial expressions lately. When you catch him looking at you and smile at him, he gets all bashful, turns his head to the side and gives you a very sheepish grin. It's the cutest thing ever. It is so funny to compare the different personality already with the two boys.
Aaron is less fussy, but soooo much more demanding. I believe that he is going to be much more stubborn than Seth...sheesh! He is IN whatever mood he is in 100%, whether that be happy, sad or MAD!!!! He a stinker for sure.

He is cooing and talking, and i'm surprised at how strong he is. He can be in a reclining position and it is nothing for him to use his stomach muscles to pull himself up to sitting. And with his sitting, he can sit up on his own for quite a while before falling to one side. It's happening so soon :(
And when it's time for food, he is so my child. He follows the food all the way up to your mouth then fusses when the bite didn't go to him. He's ready for a burger :)

I am enjoying being a mom of two boys sooo much. As gross and crude as they can be at times, i'm having a blast. I am in now hurry, but can't wait to see the men they will become. Until then tho, i'm enjoying this rainy day and a game of tickle monster is calling my name...

new beginnings

Well, we did it! Keys are turned in and we said goodbye to our little home. I have to say that it was such a confusing, emotional time. It truly was a transition for us while there, but I hate leaving memories behind.

I know that memories live on in your heart, but still. As I walked back through our now empty place, I was filled with the memory of Seth laughing, running with his friends, the day we brought Aaron home and I hated to leave them. I felt the same about our first home, and still get sad each time I drive by. Hahaa, I think I must be an emotional pack rat and want to carry them around with me everywhere. It all seems t be going and changing so fast, I can't keep up. I feel overwhelmed by all that I seem to be missing. I want to bottle every laugh, smile, hug, each I love you and then, when these times are gone I have my bottles and memories to go back to.

I sure it's just because of all that we have going on right now and when things get a little more settled I will feel more settled. So on to a happier note...

I'm proud of John and I for our little apt that was all our own. I loved our first house and knowing that I had grown up there, but there was something to the apt being 'just ours'. I look forward to where we are going in life and the journey with all my boys will be an exciting one for sure. So as we start our new beginning for 2010, I can't think of a better way to start it then in the words of my Seth...
COM'ON GUYS, LET'S DO THIS THING!!!!!
